Doctor of Philology, Professor, Chair of Translation and Interpretation, Vice Director for Research, Institute of Foreign Languages, Far Eastern National University. She was born in Brest on August 17, 1953. In 1976, she graduated with honors from Far Eastern National University. The theme of her Candidate dissertation is "Passive Constructions in English Scientific, Newspaper, and Conversational Discourses" (Leningrad, 1980) and that of Doctoral dissertation is "English as a Lingua Franca in Communication between Russians and East Asians" (Moscow, 2002). She is Deputy Chairperson of Dissertation Council K 212.056.01 in Philology. A member of editorial boards of the international journals "World Englishes" (Oxford, Boston), "Asian Englishes" (Tokyo), and "The Journal of Asia TEFL" (Seoul). Her academic interests are in World Englishes, theory of intercultural communication, and translation studies. The author of about 150 works, both in Russian and English.
