The article discusses the matters related to the impact of the pre-war situation on the educational system development in the Soviet Far East. The war threat escalation coming from Japan is considered to be an important factor which obstructed the implementation of many essential reforms in the educational sphere in the Far Eastern region (for ex. total liquidation of illiteracy, introduction of general elementary education for children, formation of a stable system of higher education).
