PSYCHOPHYSIOLOGICAL MAINTENANCE OF PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY
OF FLIGHT OPERATORS (THE CASE STUDY OF AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS)

N.E. Revenko

Revenko Natalya Eduardovna – Psychologist, Candidate of Science (Psychology).

Annotation

Safety of civil aviation is the main objective of International Civil Aviation Organization (IKAO). Experts note that the complex machinery and mechanisms created by human hands and intelligence (aka technical systems) fail more and more of late not because there are defects in their design or production or due to malfunctioning, but primarily due to the actions of the people operating these mechanisms. In its turn, inadequate actions of the specific person result from the challenges posed by psychological problems caused by the complexity of technical systems themselves. How does one help experts, whose work presupposes high risks and increased responsibility for the lives of many people? The article discusses one of the possible stress-preventive measures and techniques which are to be employed in the aviation sphere.

Key words: safety of civil aviation, human factor, errors of flight control, aviation incidents, adaptation of an organism, preventive measures.
