EVACUATION OF THE ORIENTAL INSTITUTE FROM VLADIVOSTOK TO VERKHNEUDINSK (1905): AN ADMINISTRATIVE ASPECT

Annotation
The article sheds light upon one of the most controversial periods in the history of the Oriental Institute, that is the period of its evacuation from Vladivostok to Transbaikalia during the Russo–Japanese War. The authors clarify the role of the managers of different levels – national, regional and local – in the implementation of necessary functions of the institution. The research is based on the unique archival sources and other documents, which have been accessed and analyzed for the first time.
