Annotation

Today Russian-Culture-oriented English demonstrates a marked tendency towards xenonymic restoration, giving preference to such methods of introducing culturonyms that meet the criteria of xenonymic precision and xenonymic convertability. However, we still have a problem of making loan xenonyms understandable to the addressee. This problem is solved by parallel attachment of different means of conceptualisation. In this research we attempted to estimate the appropriateness of various means of xenonyms conceptualisation employed by tour guides around St. Petersburg.

Key words: Russian-Culture-oriented English, culturonym, idionym, xenonym, domestication, foreignization, xenonymic restoration.
