Annotation

The article addresses sociolinguistic aspects of the English language functioning as a mediator for communication between Russia and APR countries. We identify the category of Asia Pacific multilinguacultural space, which features objective linguistic and cultural heterogeneity and is also characterized by integration via lingua franca. Ways to improve educational methods in the Russian system of higher education related to teaching English as the language of international communication, in view of de facto changes in the world, are suggested.
