Annotation

The article presents the statistical data which demonstrate the migration processes evolving in Primorsky region over the period of the last five years. The problems concerning the adaptation of migrants, specifically, the adaptation of children from families migrating from the former Soviet republics and overseas, have been explicated. The notion of socio-cultural adaptation of migrant children has been defined; some traumatic factors of immigration are considered. The authors propose the construction of a specialized Center for Adaptation, the institution aimed to ameliorate the challenges of socio-cultural adaptation and facilitate the assimilation of the migrants in the new, “alien” culture.

Key words: socio-cultural adaptation, migrant children, disadaptation, traumatic factors of adaptation, adaptation program.
