RAILWAY TRANSPORT IN PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA AT THE TURN OF THE CENTURIES: ECONOMIC NATURE OF LEADERSHIP

Annotation

The article considers the main tendencies in the development of railway transportation in China; it heavily relies on the authors' research conducted earlier in this area. The authors seek to identify mechanisms to accelerate the development of the railway industry, ways of solving complicated economic and transportation problems of China at the present stage. The research material allows us to see that the the cornerstone of success of railway policy in the 90-ies of the 20th century and the first decade of the 21st century was laid back in the late 70-ies of the 20th century. Close and mutually beneficial cooperation of China with the countries-leaders of railway production, efficient use of their experience in terms of flexible investment policy promote the steady development of the national railway transport.
