Annotation

The article criticizes the methodology of social cognition based on the employment of medical analogies. The central attention is paid to the concept of cultural trauma. The article demonstrates that application of the concepts norm and pathology to social reality results in degeneracy of social research into the variety of moralizing criticism which relies heavily on the theory of conspiracy and mystification of real forces behind social development.

Key words: cultural trauma, norm and pathology, moralizing criticism, conspiracy theory, mystification of historical process.
