N.V. USTRIALOV ON THE TOPIC OF THE RUSSIAN EMIGRATION:
NEW DOCUMENTS FROM THE ARCHIVE OF FOREIGN POLICY
OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION
Elizaveta Igorevna Guseva is Senior Advisor to the Historical Documents Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The author presents the document from the Archive of Foreign Policy of the Russian Federation, related to the Russian intellectual and scholar Nikolai Ustrialov. After the October revolution Ustrialov became widely known as one of the leading figures in the Russian emigration, a founder of the “Smena Vekh” school of thought. When living in Harbin (China), Ustrialov applied for the Soviet citizenship hoping for the transformation of the USSR into a less rigid and more human regime. In his letter to the Soviet Consul in Harbin, published now for the first time, he contemplates the future of the Russian emigration.
