Vladimir Aleksandrovich Smolyakov is Doctor of Political Science, Professor of the Department of Social Studies and Humanities at Khabarovsk State Academy of Economics and Law.
In the article the problem of the interconnectedness between the type of government system, electoral system and party system on Taiwan is considered. All these factors promote the formation of the political system having average - within East Asia - indices of representativeness, voter's volatility and stability of the government. The Party system of Taiwan is characterized by moderate plurality, but simultaneously strong polarization and the shift toward a two-party system.
