Annotation

The paper is devoted to the analysis of the relations between the electorate and political parties. The authors delineate the major approaches which shed light upon the interaction of the voters and the parties, problems related to party identification as well as strategies of party factions aimed at consolidation of ties with their allies when faced with the diminishing influence of the former.
