THE COMMUNICATIVE SPACE OF A REGIONAL CITY IN THE GLOBAL WORLD

The article deals with the multicentered research carried out by the faculty of Linguistics and Cross-Cultural Communication Department of Komsomolsk-on-Amur State Technical University. The researchers focus on the peculiarities of integration of a pro-vincial city into the global economic and sociocultural space. Thus, Komsomolsk-na-Amure, as well as other regional cities, is under the influence of globalization. Globalization here can be traced in attracting foreign investments, implementing transnational construction projects with foreign participants residing in the city, in developing intercultural communication and organizing educational events. The author of the article reflects upon the issues whether the regional city services are ready to receive foreigners and whether the foreigners influence the communicative habits of Komsomolsk-na-Amure citizens.
