Annotation

The problem of script institution development is related to the representation of the Old-French language in written form. The paper analyzes such physical means of language fixation as technical means of manuscript book production, materials and instruments for graphic representation of information. The author demonstrates that the progress of script is to a wide extent determined by socio-cultural and communicative factors.
