The paper presents an attempt to investigate the main political and ideological tendencies popular among the Amur Cossacks in the period covering the time from the Russian autocracy downfall up to the neutralization of the Ataman Gamow revolt in Blagoveshchensk. The paper's basic thesis is that the Cossacks played an active role in the revolutionary events in 1917-1918 in the Amur Province. The archive resources used give a review of the main stages in the revolutionary development, political and ideological moods of the Cos-sacks, tending to get transformed, and their interactive role in the revolutionary events during the period under review.
