DRUG ADDICTION IN THE RUSSIAN FAR EAST: TRENDS IN THE YAKUT SOCIETY*

The paper is devoted to drug addiction which involves more and more young people and influences the economic, political and cultural development of the society. The author distinguishes the specific features of the drug situation in separate areas of the Russian Federation - the Sakha Republic (Yakutia). These peculiarities are distinguished on the basis of data obtained from a specific sociological project, comparative analysis, and the analysis of mass media and official sources. The data obtained allow the author to determine real risk groups, factors of drug addiction, so-called "familiarization zones and the problems of prophylactics of drug ad-diction in the Sakha Republic.
