The paper argues that a foreign language textbook is a cultural phenomenon and that is why its representative function becomes essential. The author suggests the cultural approach to such a pedagogical and linguistic category as a textbook. The article introduces principles for the culturological analysis of quantitative and qualitative constituents in the socio-cultural contents of a modern English language textbook. "English Unlimited" (Cambridge University Press) is considered from this point of view.
