The paper deals with the critical attitude towards the evolutionary philosophical system of the English positivist H. Spenser from the Russian orthodox theists in the 19th century. The author describes those propositions of evolutionism, which caused the most criticism from the representatives of ecclesiastic-academic philosophy.
