Annotation

The present study focuses on description and analysis of the early Taoist concept of transcendence and transcendent xians. The basic source of the analysis is the Taoist "Yellow Court Scripture" (Huang ting jing) which describes the "inner landscape" of the human body as an anthropological universe, including internal divinities. The scripture was considered to be a manual for Taoist visual contemplation - the mainstream of Taoist longevity techniques in the 3th-6th centuries.

Key words: China, religion, Taoism/Daoism, Yellow Court Scripture, Taoist concept of transcendence, xian, Taoist longevity techniques, anthropological universe, visualization, contemplation, interior vision.
