Annotation

The article is concerned with research into the views of the well-known Russian philosopher and theologian Archbishop Innocent (Borisov) on the inner nature of man. The author of the article points out that this Eastern Orthodox thinker's theory of mental life and epistemology comprised an integrated doctrine. Archbishop Innocent's intention to unite philosophy and religion into holistic "spiritual knowledge" is revealed. The essence of the "theistic rationalism" of Archbishop Innocent, who did not accept excessive mysticism in philosophy, is also defined.

Key words: Orthodox theism, ecclesiastical and academical philosophy, immortality of soul, religious gnoseology, Absolute, religious philosophy.
