Annotation

This research is focused on the "yellow peril", a complex of international contradictions which deeply influenced the historical development of the Russian Far East. The author considers the structure of the "yellow peril" and pays special attention to its non-governmental public component. The paper reveals the changes in the goals and means of governmental interference in relationships between the population of the Russian Far East and East Asian societies and provides the author's periodization of the history of "yellow peril".
