AN IMPORTANT METHODOLOGICAL PRINCIPLE OF MODERN PHILOSOPHY OF SCIENCE: INTERDEPENDENCE OF HISTORY OF SCIENCE AND PHILOSOPHY OF SCIENCE
Karavaev E. F.

Karavaev Eduard Fedorovich – Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, Head of the Department of Philosophy of Science and Engineering, Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science at the St. Petersburg State University.

Annotation

It is revealed in the article that, having one and the same object (i.e. science), History of Science and Philosophy of Science interact closely with each other, though they differ in the subject. This interaction is congenial and based on the permanent interrelation between science and philosophy. Hence, the assertion that there exists a holistic thinking comprising both History of Science and Philosophy of Science can be deemed correct.

Key words: science, history of science, philosophy of science, objective history, subjective history, interrelation, descriptive, normative, synchronic, diachronic.
